I was watching the Today show and I stopped to listen to story about a mother named Gracie Benedith-Cane who started a small business because of struggles that her young visually impaired son has every morning. I may not always think much about simple tasks such as getting dressed, brushing teeth or making lunch for the day but I do more now especially after this story.

The struggles Gracie and her husband face are more than just helping their son daily get dressed.  What about as he gets older and the need to become more independent? To fix this problem, she looked within to come up with something that would help them and especially with her son’s independence. That simple, bright idea is braille patches that could be placed on his clothes to assist with dressing.  I worked! Gracie and her husband no longer had to take turns dressing their son and he could have a sense of accomplishment. Since it was such a success for her family, Gracie wanted to help others who are blind or visually impaired so they created Braille Code Brands Inc.

Braille Code Brands Inc. patches for clothes and shoes

They have a shop where you can purchase braille patches for clothes and shoes. What an amazing family who has overcome adversity and I love that they have found light within their dark. Please donate and help the Benedith-Cane family do more great things to support the visually impaired.
